I use TortoiseSVN professionally but I also use it at home. My wife and I use it to store gigabytes of digital photos. She understands just the bare minimum of add, commit and update, but all she really cares about is that the folders and files with a green checkmark are copied to a remote location every night and so won't be lost in case of a fire.
