Hi Folks,

Ohloh.net offers nice metrics for open source projects. Here are my personal metrics :)
I have also received some money via paypal which I invested into self made music. Here's the story behind it
Get a bass
What shall I do with the money? I didn't know that for a while. Save it for something I'd like to have, but for what?
Now I've made up my mind, but I'm going to tell you a short story about it. I'm playing bass guitar in a nice German Folk-Rock band called
Tam Lin. A while ago, during a recording session for our second album the following dialog ensued:
Bernd: Lübbe, you need a new bass!
Me: Why?
Bernd: Yours picks up too much noise. It hums where it shouldn't, the strings clatter...
Me: You're right, but a new one costs a lot of money!
Bernd: Yes, but you'll have a better sound.
Me: I'll think about it.
That was in November 2004. Since then we didn't have time to continue recording. We all have a daytime job to earn our living, a new member joined the band, we had to rehearse a lot, played live gigs where the hum doesn't bother the audience that much. You all know how quick a year can pass.
But the bug had been put in my ear. I started looking for bass guitars and set my eyes on a Sandberg "Ken Taylor Basic" 5-string bass.
Pretty isn't it? I want the blue one :-)
So I decided to set some money aside, but I'm still far away from my goal.
How much bass have I got so far?

December 2005: I did it!
A few weeks ago I bought my new bass. Due to "financial" reasons, I settled for the smaller model with only one pickup and a different colour. It's an absolutely fantastic instrument! I already played my first concert with it. Here's a picture to prove that it's in use.
Thanks to everyone who donated! A third of my new bass was funded by the community. I hope you all get a warm feeling when I play it. :-)
June 2006: The story continues, Music all the way
Since I bought the bass I've been thinking about the next thing that I would like to save money for. It took me a while again, but here it is:
For almost eighteen years (My goodness, am I that old?!?), I've been carrying around a good and heavy Peavey Mark III bass amp and a matching 2x15 Peavey box to the gigs with my different bands. Very reliable stuff, good sound, very sturdy and ... very heavy.
Asking my fellow musicians to help me carry the equipment (mainly the box) onto stage almost led to mutinity the last time.
So I decided to look for something smaller, which is powerful enough for rehearsing, backline and smaller gigs, since there's a PA anyway when you play on a bigger stage.
It looks (and sounds) like my requirements are met by a Hughes & Kettner Basskick combo amp. Sounds good, growls like a lion and weighs only a fifth of my current equipment.
How much amp have I got so far?
Wow, thanks to a huge donation, my bass amp is suddenly completely funded! Thanks everybody. I feel like I should airbrush a Tortoise on it ;-)
December 2006: I did it again!
Last week I went to several music stores and after checking out different bass combo amps I bought a nice Hughes & Kettner bass combo. This little thingy has an incredible sound! The entire band is happy with it. No more mutinity because now I don't need someone who helps me to carry my equipment around anymore.
Thanks to everyone who donated!
