Number of downloads
Congratulation with the many downloads. I am afraid that it is "jet-just-another-number". What does it actually mean? One thing it might reflect is a vast number of releases, and that we update the client software often. Maybe we are doing it too often. Another and in my view more interesting number, is how many is using this software. Though, it is not a trivial calculation.
I'm watching the downloads over time
and I have observed that the number of downloads per week is constantly increasing. I think this is due to the fact, that subversion is gettings spread more and more and is also used in corporate environments more often.
For example the TortoiseSVN 1.4.5 (32 Bit) release has been downloaded a million times (High score for a single release). This surely stands for more than a million installations.
TortoiseSVN 1.4.8 (32 Bit) has right now been downloaded ~250.000 times. I have no idea how the share between updates and new installations is. But who cares :)
From our high score I'd say that we have at least a million people out there who use TortoiseSVN. And that's something to be proud of. :D
